Persona 1-Max Ripersburg
Background
Max studied Natural Sciences at a public high school in Denmark and is now studying at the Technical University of Denmark where he is pursuing a bachelor in Computer Science. He moved out a year ago and lives in a bachelor pad. In school he is having troubles and is very stressed due partially due to his bad studying habits and also because of a large workload. He is also doing a lot of extracurricular work at school which takes up a lot of his time.
Personality
Max is an extrovert and is thus very social and outgoing. He is very spontaneous and fun but that comes at a cost, since Max is bad at planning. He loves making people smile and loves his place of education and the people around him.
Today
Max has a lot on his plate at the moment. He is trying to juggle all his current workload, studying for past failed exams, and his involvement in extracurricular activities. Max has decided to travel to Stockholm during the summer to just relax.
Goals
Max wants to relax during the summer and regain his motivation for the studies. He wants to work at as a software engineer at Spotify but for now he wants to experience Stockholm as he might want to live there in the future. He wants to check out local bars and clubs and he has a long-distance girlfriend in Stockholm. He also has a passion for history and architecture, so he will be visiting a lot of common tourist spots in Stockholm city. Luckily Max has some relatives in Central Stockholm and his girlfriend, so he will have a place to stay.
Scenario 1 for Persona 1
It is Friday afternoon and Max has finally arrived in Stockholm and is excited to see his girlfriend again after quite some time. Max is really looking forward to spend some one on one time with his girlfriend but since he really is a people’s person he is already in the back of his mind trying to come up with some activities him and his girlfriend can do tomorrow. Of course its really hard for him to plan anything since he does not live in Stockholm and cannot possibly know what there is to do nor can he possibly know if there is any bigger events that could generate big crowds that would destroy the relaxing experience he is looking for. So he googled around for some information and came in contact with this app that would tell the user how crowded each location is, what events there was in the city, frequently visited locations and so on.
Saturday morning Max was ready to use this app to plan a relaxing day with his girlfriend. Since Max wanted to see some of the nature that Stockholm is known for, so he put that in as his requirement in the apps search bar and was shown a couple of possible locations and routes. Max decided to go with the ferry since he figured that way he could see some beautiful scenery as well as being on a relaxing boat trip with his girlfriend.
Scenario 2 for Persona 1
Max has been in Stockholm for almost an entire week now and for the first time during this time, his girlfriend is busy with some family matters and hence Max has to come up with a way to entertain himself this evening. Since Max is an extrovert and really outgoing he figures he should go out and visit the pubs of Stockholm and maybe strike up some conversation with some locals to see how it is to live here in Stockholm. Max is also thinking to himself how great it would have been if he would meet a software developer that lives here in Stockholm that would really give him some good perspective of what the future holds for him with his current plans.
As Max was browsing possible locations to visit in the app that he used to plan the day out with his girlfriend earlier this week he comes across the option to type in what his hobbies are and what he is really passionate about, furthermore the app also shows where people with similar interests usually go, and where there is an unusually high concentration of such people at the moment.
Now that Max is armed with this information and knowledge of where to go to have a great experience and possibly get some answers to his question he gets ready and heads out to the pub that the application recommended for someone with his profile.
Persona 2- Tony Gustafsson
Background
Tony is a 55 years old man. He lived with his wife whom he had married at a young age, in Malmö Sweden until five years ago when him and his wife got divorced. Tony is a senior engineer at a big software company based in Stockholm. After the divorce Tony moved to Stockholm and basically married his job instead and started working really hard and really long hours. He did nothing but think about work, work and eat everyone once in a while, obviously he was devastated by the divorce and choose to bury himself in his work so that he did not have to think about how hurt he was. The consequence of five years of total focus on his job was that he was really successful and earned a lot of money, but also that once he “woke” up after this period he realised that he had basically been a robot for the past five years and could not even remember a single happy and relaxing day in the past five years.
Personality
Tony is quite an introvert and really like to focus on his own interests. He has an amazing capability to focus on one task and stay focused on that one task for a long period of time . Tony does not really express his emotions, but rather he keeps to himself until he has come up with a logical explanation of why he feels the way he does and how to handle this emotion in the beast way possible. This can make him seem rather cold, but he is not its just that he does not wear his heart on his sleeve, quite the contrary really. He also have a strong desire to feel useful and that he does not waste his time, thus he has an immense thirst for acquiring knowledge.
Today
Tony is now a successful senior engineer at his company. Tony has finally woken up from his robot like state of mind as is now ready to compensate for the lost time. He wants to start this new journey with exploring Stockholm, since he has really no idea what the city has to offer even though he has been living there for five years!
Goals
Tony wants to compensate for the past 5 years of hard work and no breaks. Since he enjoys learning and seen nothing of Stockholm he wants to go and visit the different museums in Stockholm. The other thing he wants to do is take some time to really relax and enjoy the beautiful architecture that Stockholm’s old city offers.
Scenario 1 for Persona 2
Finally, its Friday afternoon and Tony is of work for the coming two weeks. Due to his recent awakening Tony is really excited to sit down and go through this new app that his co-workers told him about. Supposedly the app shows where the museums and interesting locations are in Stockholm as well as showing how to plan a route that in it self shows you some of the beautiful nature by taking some unorthodox routes that most people don’t use. But Tony who is not at all familiar with neither Stockholm nor apps in general feels like he is taking a risk planning to much with the app. So he chooses to combine the app with the old fashioned way of looking up the routes that the app recommends with a map, only to discover that the app is indeed showing some legitimate routes and there is no reason to worry.
On his way to the Nobel museum he thought that he should enjoy some of the old architecture of Stockholm’s old town so he asked some people what route they recommended for someone that wants to see as much as possible. After a few times he noticed that everyone said something different and so he thought he should check the app and what others with a profile close to his recommended. He found the recommendations he was looking for and choose to trust the route that the app suggested. Tony was really amazed at how well the app managed to plan a route that showed him the architecture he wanted to see and at the same time guide him to the Nobel museum.
Scenario 2 for Persona 2
It is Sunday, the last day Tony’s two-week long break. Tony wants this day to be a calm day where he has the opportunity to passively enjoy some scenery and reflect on the events in the past five years. He had some faint memory of someone mentioning Djurgårdsfärjan as something that would fit his requirements perfectly. He used the app that his co-workers had told him about to check when there would be the least amount of people there and the time tables for the ferry. Tony sat there thinking about how lonely he felt and that he would rather spend this boat trip just talking to someone rather than being left to himself and his thoughts. So instead of going when the ferry had the least amount of people he chooses to go when there was a bit more people just so that he could hear some conversation between others and kind of use that as some kind of background noise for his own thoughts. Happy with this plan he chooses to take a quick nap before taking the subway to slussen to get to the ferry. Tony almost oversleeps but the app notices that there is a route planned and that the user has is not close to the station yet and so it setts of an alarm so that the user does not miss whatever it is that they should not missed based on what they have set as their desired route.
